Why I Skate Riedell:
Because every top athlete should have the best resources and equipment to support and aid the performance of their skills.
How I Got into Roller Derby:
Being a naturally aggressive angsty 20 year old, the sport was recommended to me by a friend who’d just watched roller derby for the first time. I had lunch with her and she proclaimed she’d found “the perfect sport for me”, she was right.
I listen to really calming music to focus me and get me in a very zen state prior to games. I am naturally very aggressive so it’s important for me to calm my excitement about the game and focus on the control required to play well. If I don’t activly focus on being calm before a game I’ll go out onto the track like an energizer bunny and unnecessarily hit everyone around me, which will result in me exiting the game quite a lot earlier than I would prefer.
Prior to a game you’ll usually find me in the change room with my eyes closed taking deep breaths listening to rainforest sounds.
Favorite Thing(s) To Do Outside of Derby:
PARTY! I like to celebrate the hard work I put into my derby career by letting loose on a dance floor, any dance floor! Outside of party times I’m very fond of crafts, making art, sewing, board games and skating bowls.
