Why I choose to skate Riedell:
I'm excited to skate with Riedell because it reminds me of the beginning. When I first started derby, I skated in a pair of 265s and then went to the 495 soon after. So being with Riedell is like a new beginning for me that gives me all the excitement and feels as it did 10 years ago. Also, continuing to skate on skates that are durable and lightweight is important to me and that's is something that Riedell can provide.
If I could only skate in one place for the rest of my life, it would be:
I think I would choose anywhere near a beach. Being able to skate along a sea breeze and then be able to watch a sunset afterward is a dream come true.
My personal motto:
Smile… Let everyone know that today, you are stronger than you were yesterday.
My favorite music to jam out to:
So, with a few hours before a game I listen to hip-hop to pump me up and take away my nervousness. Then when I'm about an hour before the game time I listen to R&B to calm me. Unique, right?!? LOL.
3 words to describe me:
Adaptable. Effervescent. Fearless.
3 fun facts that most people don't know about me:
- I'm a newbie at cross stitching.
I have a tattoo on my left ankle that says Tantrums, because I was NOT going to put David Hasselhoff on me. LOL.
- My Boss named me Blaque Jac before I started Derby.
Someone I admire and why:
I have a group of friends, we call ourselves Granfrannns, that I admire deeply. Not only because they are amazing skaters, but they are awesome friends as well. To have a set of people to understand you and to allow you to be an unapologetically version of yourself is a beautiful thing. So Laryn Kill, Lily the Kid, and Ana Cheng, Thank You!
The skater I also admire is Smarty Pants. As a skater she always gave her best performance and did whatever job that was handed to her, while making all her roles look easy. Strategically she was always learning and creating new ways to improve this sport. Although she is retired from the sport she is still offering her services and continue to train hungry and eager skaters. It's been so great to have learned so much from her over the years as a teacher and friend.
I also admire skater that just smiles, skate, and have fun.
