How many years you have been skating?  Rink rat for 29 years. Jam skater for 19 years. Roller Derby for 12 years.

Are you a part of any skate groups or crews?
Steel City Jammers and Rust Belt Rollers

Why do you choose to wear Riedell?
I have rolled in MANY different types and styles of skates during my many years of rolling, and I have yet to find anything that even compares to the feel of Riedells. The light weight, perfect fit set up is perfect for ALL of my skating loves: Jam Skating, Roller Derby, Skate Parks, and just cruisin’.

Do you have a favorite move or trick?
I like the Hurricane kick. Yeah, there is some love with the name association, but because it’s a move that I think I’ve gotten pretty good at. It’s an added bonus that I don’t see that move performed too much anymore. It’s almost considered an old-school move, so it makes me feel good to pull that out of my pocket every once and a while.

What is your best skating memory?
When I skate, I am in my Zen Zone and in those times, my heart is so happy. Some of my fondest memories are with my Jam Skate team. We have shared THOUSANDS of miles on the road and MANY laughs together. We would often travel to new rinks on the weekends and the feeling of knowing every move and stride and being perfectly in sync with my teammates was so fulfilling and fun. After we would do our jams/strides/moves, we would often spend the rest of session making new friends and teaching the locals how to do our dances. Sharing that knowledge makes the experience so much more enriching.

Where is your favorite place to skate and why?
I have kept a close record of every single rink I have ever skated in and my count is up to 126 roller rinks. Of all 126 roller rinks, Neville Island Roller Drome, Neville Island, PA is my favorite. I have been to many rinks that have a great floor, great music, great atmosphere and great people, but the look and feel of this rink is just home. When the lights turn on to highlight the original orange and brown carpet walls from the 50’s and the smell of the floor coating hits my sensory glands, I am taken to a place of euphoria. The roller skating community thrives in this almost middle-of-nowhere location, and every week there are a hundred new faces attending session. The special energy that is held within those walls is one that is filled with great times, lots of laughs and a genuine love for roller skating.

If you could have any one super power, which would you choose?
If I could choose one super power, it would be to have the ability to show anyone, especially our youth, their individual self-worth. Our ever changing and growing world has so many wonderful things to offer, but I feel as though we have lost sight of what makes us, as individuals, special. I would love to walk up to someone, have them close their eyes, tap them on the forehead and have them open their eyes to see how the world sees them…more beautiful than they ever imagined.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?
  1. Someday I will skydive wearing my skates. (I’ve already had them one while flying in a plane, now I just need to jump out of it).
  2. Someday I will complete my list of skating in every state in the USA.
  3. Someday I will design and build my own home with a sizeable place to roller skate.
